Meaning and origin
Femoid blends female and humanoid (some say android). It was coined in incel communities to describe women as something other than people. It's the root word for foid, which is shorter and spread much further.
You mostly see femoid spelled out in older forum posts. In memes and comments it's been almost completely replaced by foid. The one recent exception is "femoid Malfoy," which some people search when they mean Malfoid.
Is femoid offensive?
Yes. It was made up to describe women as less than human, and that's still how it reads to most people. Researchers who study incel forums treat femoid and foid as part of the vocabulary those communities use to dehumanize women, alongside terms for attractive women and the men they date. Several platforms have banned the forums where the words were most common.
That's different from how foidslop gets used now, where the insult has mostly worn off and a lot of the people using it are women joking about their own habits. Femoid itself never went through that. People who use it today are almost always either quoting forum language or meaning it.
