Where it came from
People have drawn girl versions of Draco Malfoy for a long time. Know Your Meme traces one back to Tumblr in 2011, and a 2024 post on X captioned "If Malfoy was a girl" got over 60,000 likes. The name Malfoid first turned up in a text post in January 2026, but it didn't stick until the fall.
On September 22, 2026, an artist on X called @redteneri posted a drawing of a blonde, green-eyed girl Draco with hoop earrings and called her Dracaena Malfoy. It got close to 90,000 likes in its first week. Other artists piled in over the next few days, mostly drawing her as a smug tsundere who teases Harry or fights Hermione over him. As AI-generated pictures and videos of her spread, the name drifted from Dracaena Malfoy to Draco Malfoid, and by the end of the month she was all over Reddit, TikTok and YouTube.

Why the name
Malfoid is Malfoy plus foid, the incel word for women. Plenty of people sharing the art treat it as a pun that happens to fit. Others think the name is the whole point, and the character has been picked up by some alt-right accounts on X.
It also turned into slop fast. AI-generated versions spread faster than the drawn ones, fans made a dark academia dating sim about her called Pureblood & Prejudice, and Slate summed up the fan demand as "They just want the Malfoidslop."
The Department of Education post
On October 27, 2026, the US Department of Education's X account posted a picture of Malfoid with the caption "There's Magic in Learning!" and a Make Education Great Again tag. Slate ran the image through an AI detector, which rated it 99 percent likely to be AI-generated. The department hasn't said where the picture came from.
Fans of the meme cheered. Slate's Steffi Cao wrote it up on October 29 as a federal agency posting an incel meme, and used the story to explain foid, femoid and foidslop for people who had never seen the words.
Is Malfoid foidslop?
Not really, at least by our reading. Foidslop is stuff women are into, and Malfoid is a drawing of a girl that a lot of guys are into. You can disagree on the Malfoid vote.
