Foidslop shows, books and movies
Media is where foidslop has spread the furthest from its food origins. When Slate explained the word in October 2026, its examples were all media: get-ready-with-me videos, the Barbie movie, and stories about two boys falling in love, like Heated Rivalry and fan fiction.
The usual pattern is a story with a huge female audience that critics or men decided not to take seriously. Romantasy has been one of the best-selling corners of publishing for years. Twilight was mocked for a decade and then reclaimed by the people who grew up on it. Gilmore Girls gets rewatched every October. True crime podcasts have a mostly female audience, and our take still says they aren't foidslop.
